 HP Float Bowl

The fuel bowls have 20% more capacity than those on the standard HP carburetor, greatly reducing the risk of fuel starvation and stabilizing air fuel ratios.  There’s also internal baffling in the bowls to reduce fuel slosh under hard g-loads. There is a fuel shelf below the needle and seat to minimize aeration, and a fuel trough has been built into the bottom of the bowl to route fuel directly to the jets to keep them covered — again allowing for more stable air fuel ratios.

It is also available in GAS.  The HP Carburetor below has 20% more fuel capacity vs a traditional v-bowl, 97% aluminum construction translates to 38% weight savings for the new carb. The carbs are available in 600, 650,750, 850 and true 950 CFM

Tease: What we ultimately found was that this Holley HP 850 carburetor made its best power right at a 13:1 air/fuel ratio. This gave us that aforementioned 1,100 rpm increase in the engine’s available power band as well as the 60 hp peak increase we saw as well.

Holley’s Ultra Double Pumpers™ are now available with either a manual or electric choke. The Ultra Double Pumper Carburetors feature all aluminum construction and are equipped with metering blocks and a base plate made from 6061–T6 billet aluminum. These Carburetors come with a tumble-polished aluminum body with three anodized color options (Red™, Blue™, or Black™) for the base plate and metering blocks. They are also available in the popular Hardcore Gray™ hard coat anodized finish. The all-aluminum construction makes them approximately 5 lbs. less than a comparable zinc carburetor.
The new Ultra Double Pumper Carburetors have an enhanced fuel curve for optimum performance, with many more features such as aluminum construction; anodized billet aluminum metering blocks and base plate; 4-corner idle for precise idle control; mechanical secondaries for great performance;  clear fuel level sight plugs for easy, no mess fuel level adjustments; Ford automatic transmission kickdown for use on popular Ford transmissions; four vacuum ports for all necessary vacuum accessories; and a manual choke for easy, fast cold start–ups.

Holley implemented a host of changes and upgrades for the Gen 3, completely redesigning the main body and developing an all-new, high-capacity fuel bowl.  “We used extensive CFD analysis to design the main body,” says Tichenor, noting the main body is 5/16-inch taller than the previous generation Dominator. The higher platform allows for a larger, more contoured radius on the air entries.

Other improvements to the main body include: 1) Integrated idle-bypass valve that allows idle adjustment without disrupting the relationship between the throttle plate and transfer slot, 2) 12-hole billet booster inserts for improved atomization,  3)  Extended air-cleaner flange to accommodate new air-scoop adapters, 4)  Contoured hex-head squirter screws to streamline air flow,  5) adjustable stainless-steel linkage and knurled idle screws.

Billet aluminum metering blocks are used for improved gasket sealing, corrosion protection and cleaner appearance.

The new fuel bowls offer 20 percent more capacity to help eliminate starvation, but there are also numerous other features to provide consistent fuel delivery:  1) Fuel shelf is located below needle and seat to minimize aeration,  2) Internal baffles control fuel slosh and minimize float-level fluctuations,  3) Fuel trough is designed into the floor of the bowl to route fuel flow directly to the jets, 4) Clear sight windows for fuel-level adjustments,  5) Drain plug in the front center of the bowl for easy jet changes.

How To Select A Carburetor Guide:
Let’s take for example, a 300 C.I.D.  V-8 which has a maximum RPM limit of 8000 RPM. It’s been determined that this particular engine has a volumetric efficiency of 85%.  According to our chart (below) the engine’s airflow requirement is 700 C.F.M. at 100% volumetric efficiency.  At 85%, however, the C.F.M. requirement is 595 C.F.M. This engine would, therefore, require a 600 C.F.M. carburetor.
NOTE: Supercharged engines generally require carburetors with 40% to 50% more C.F.M. than normally aspirated engines.

Holley announces the release of the new Shadow Black Ceramic Coating option for Street Demon Carburetors and intake manifolds thru Marken Performance.
The Shadow Black Ceramic coating finish wraps up the Street Demon line in an aggressive and subtle package that also acts as a barrier to corrosion and heat. Street Demon carburetors are known for their clean looks, ease of use and revolutionary design. This design ensures a stable idle, crisp throttle response, and smooth performance. Their optimized calibrations and dual mounting pattern make them Run-Ready™ for a variety of engines and vehicles.  All of the popular and innovative features associated with these carburetors are included in the Shadow Black version, plus they utilize the Street Demon aerospace composite fuel bowl that keeps fuel up to 20° cooler. They have an integrated fuel bowl/main body with all gaskets above the fuel level to eliminate all potential leak paths. They feature small primary bores with triple stack boosters for excellent fuel economy and throttle response, plus a large Goggle Valve Secondary (GVS™) throttle plate that delivers over twice the airflow of the primaries for increased power.
They’re available in both 625 CFM (part # 1901BK) and 750 CFM (part # 1904BK). Holley Street Demon’s have Ford kickdown provisions, GM 700R4/200R4 provisions and available TPS kits for GM 4L60E/4L80E transmissions.
