Canton Racing’s New Billet Spin-On Oil Filter part # 25-244 is a 4.25" tall billet spin-on filter with 13/16"-16 threads and a standard size o-ring. Like all CM filters it features a billet aluminum body built for strength and durability for a lifetime of use. Heat sink ribs add to filter's functionality and aggressive aesthetic. The filters bottom cap is easily removed with four bolts for filter element inspection and replacement.
According to Canton’s Jeff Behuniak, “The filter came about because we were finding a lot of racers were cutting their regular filters apart to inspect the media. An easy solution for us was to build a body with a removable and replaceable element — they can just pull it out and unroll it to look at it that way.”
The filter body is a billet work of art — it has 4 simple bolts to aid in removal of the 2 5/8-inch-tall element, which can subsequently be inspected and replaced.
The element inside the filter has removable caps, and the synthetic media inside will filter up to 15 gallons per minute of hot engine oil with zero loss of pressure. A CM 2-5/8" tall synthetic fiber filter element which flows 15 GPM of hot engine oil with no loss of pressure and filters down to 8 microns (three ten-thousandths of an inch) comes preinstalled.
The element itself can be unrolled and inspected for any foreign particles. Instead of pleated construction like a typical off-the-shelf filter, the layers of the element are rolled around the inner cage, then captured by an outer cage to keep it in position; it’s subsequently capped at both ends to retain the media.
The filter housing is available for a reasonable price, and once you’ve purchased the housing, individual internal elements don’t cost any more than a decent filter at the parts store and they can be purchased in 1 (# 26-000), 6 (# 26-020) or 24-packs (# 26-040).
The filter design is available two different sizes: the 15GPM version we have and a larger, 6.25-inch-tall version that flows a whopping 45 gallons per minute for the larger engines out there requiring that type of flow.
